Pedestrian Killed By NJ Transit Train

A pedestrian was fatally struck by an NJ Transit train and killed in Monmouth County Thursday evening, Jan. 25, officials said.

The person was struck near the railroad crossing at White Road in Little Silver at around 4:55 p.m., NJ Transit spokesperson Kyalo Mulumba said.

None of the roughly 110 passengers or crew members on the train were injured, Mulumba said.

The North Jersey Coast Line train had left the Long Branch station at 4:46 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at New York Penn Station at 6:25 p.m. Service was suspended between Long Branch and Red Bank until around 7:30 p.m.

NJ Transit Police are investigating the crash.
